Carving Shades – 2016

Carving Shades – 2016

Carving Shades is a performance inspired by the allegory of the cave of the philosopher Plato. To what extent is what we see and experience real? Is it an reflection? Or is a reflection of an object an object on in itself? Carving Shades focuses on these questions and offers the public the opportunity to discover where their attention and fascination lies: the ‘real’ physical dancer of flesh and blood, or the numerous reflections that the performer brings with then? Or is it the spectacle that is created on stage through both aspects? From the various aspects of the performance,  Carving Shades tries to stimulate the discussion about what is real.
